Rut-Ready Brassica Blend
Unleash the drawing power of the ultimate late-season magnet. Engineered for maximum cold-weather attraction.
The Rut-Ready Brassica Blend is a high-octane, late-season mix designed specifically for the heart of the hunting season. By combining deep-rooting radishes with energy-dense sugar beets and turnips, you’re providing a food source that remains a "green magnet" from the pre-rut through the coldest winter months.
This blend isn't just about greens—it's about underground energy.
| Component | Type | Primary Role | Percentage |
| CCS Tillage Radish | Annual Brassica | Soil aeration & fast-growing early/mid-season draw | 40% |
| Purple Top Turnips | Annual Brassica | Large energy-rich bulbs & frost-sweetened greens | 30% |
| Trophy Rapeseed | Annual Brassica | Durable, high-protein forage that handles heavy browse | 15% |
| Sugar Beets | Root Crop | Ultra-high sugar content; the "candy" of the food plot | 15% |
The Sugar Rush: While the Rapeseed and Radish provide high-protein greens (up to 25-30% crude protein) early on, the Sugar Beets and Purple Top Turnips act as the late-season payoff. As temperatures drop, these roots store massive amounts of glucose, creating a "candy store" effect that pulls deer away from standing corn or beans.
Tillage Power: The 40% CCS Tillage Radish features a massive taproot that acts as a "biological drill." It breaks up soil compaction and pulls deep-seated nutrients to the surface, making them accessible to your deer and improving the soil for next year's crop.
Browse Tolerance: Trophy Rapeseed is the "workhorse" of the blend. It establishes quickly and is incredibly resilient, allowing the plot to stay green and productive even under intense grazing pressure from high deer densities.
Winter Survival: When the greens finally freeze out, the deer will switch to "mining" the soil—digging up the massive radish tubers, turnip bulbs, and sugar beets for the high-calorie energy they need to survive the winter.
Planting & Seeding Specifications
| Method | Seeding Rate |
| Broadcast | 8 - 10 lbs / Acre |
| Drilled | 5 - 7 lbs / Acre |
How to Plant
Broadcast: Spread on a well-prepared, firm seedbed. Following up with a cultipacker is the "secret sauce" for this mix—it presses the seed into the dirt without burying it too deep.
Drilled: If using a no-till or grain drill, set it to 1/4" depth. This is the most reliable way to get the Rapeseed and Beets to pop.
| Feature | Requirement |
| Sun Requirement | Full Sun (6–8 hours). Sugar beets and rapeseed need plenty of light to maximize energy. |
| Soil pH | 6.0 – 7.5. Sugar beets are sensitive to acidic soil; aim for neutral if possible. |
| Planting Depth | 1/4" deep. Ensure a firm seedbed for these small seeds. |
| Seeding Rate | 5 lbs covers approximately 1/2 to 3/4 acre. |
| Maturity | 60–100 Days. (Beets take the longest to reach peak size). |

| Climate Zone | Planting Window | Regional Context |
| Zone 1 (North) | July 1 – Aug 1 | Earlier is better here to give Sugar Beets time to bulb. |
| Zone 2 (Transitional) | July 20 – Aug 20 | The "Sweet Spot" for the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. |
| Zone 3 (South) | Sept 1 – Oct 1 | Wait for the fall rains to begin for better germination. |
